Siddarth Satish

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Siddarth Satish founded Gauss in 2011 with the vision of using digitally-enabled medical devices to dramatically improve patient safety and quality during surgery. In his operating roles, he has led the company's commercial launch and raised $45 million in venture capital. As Chief Technology Officer from 2011 to 2015, Siddarth co-invented the company's core AI-enabled platform and led the company through 7 US/EU regulatory approvals, including an FDA De Novo clearance. Siddarth previously served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at StartX, Stanford University's Startup Accelerator, and as a SIMdesign fellow in the Department of Surgery at Stanford University. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.S. in Bioengineering from the UC Berkeley/UCSF Joint Graduate Group in Bioengineering. Siddarth holds over 50 issued or pending patents in the fields of mobile vision and medical devices, and was named to the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

  Griffeth Tully, MD  Chief Medical Officer  Dr. Griff Tully joined Gauss in early 2016 as Medical Director. Previously, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Theranova, LLC. Dr. Tully has 14 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to Theranova he served as Chief Medical Officer of Breathometer Inc., Silk Road Medical, Inc., and Velomedix, Inc. Dr. Tully joined Velomedix from Boston Scientific Corporation where he served as Medical Director from 2001 to 2009 where, in addition to his senior management roles, his therapeutic focus areas included interventional cardiology, acute ischemic stroke, and cardiac arrest. Previously, Dr. Tully served as Medical Director of Embolic Protection Incorporated, which was acquired by Boston Scientific in 2001. Dr. Tully is a licensed and board certified emergency physician and holds an M.D. from New York Medical College and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

  Mac Farnsworth, CPA  Chief Financial Officer  Mac Farnsworth, CPA has over 30 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer specializing in financing and managing growth businesses from start-up through commercialization, IPO and acquisition. Prior to joining Gauss, he was CFO at Cardiva Medical from 2008-2014, CFO at Point Biomedical from 1998N2008, CFO at Gynecare from 1994-1998 and CFO Origin Medsystems from 1990-1994. He started his career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse and has an MBA from Hass School at UC Berkeley and BS in Economics from Lehigh University.

Chief Financial Officer

Mac Farnsworth, CPA has over 30 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer specializing in financing and managing growth businesses from start-up through commercialization, IPO and acquisition. Prior to joining Gauss, he was CFO at Cardiva Medical from 2008-2014, CFO at Point Biomedical from 1998N2008, CFO at Gynecare from 1994-1998 and CFO Origin Medsystems from 1990-1994. He started his career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse and has an MBA from Hass School at UC Berkeley and BS in Economics from Lehigh University.

  Robert Thurer, MD, FACS  Medical Director  Dr. Robert “Bob” Thurer joined Gauss in early 2016 as Medical Director. Previously, he served as Medical Director of Haemonetics (NYSE: HAE) where he was a key member of the senior management team and clinical leadership. Bob has served as chief academic officer for Harvard Medical School’s facility based in Dubai known as Dubai HealthCare City (DHCC) and has been an active member of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a successful cardiothoracic surgeon and clinical educator at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for 25 years. A graduate of Dartmouth College ('67) and DMS ('68), he received his MD from Harvard Medical School, and completed his general and thoracic surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Thurer is a recognized expert in the fields of surgery of the lung and thorax as well as blood use in surgery.

  Andrew Hosford  Vice President, Engineering  Andrew Hosford joined Gauss in 2011 and has led product development and engineering of its flagship iPad-based platform, Triton. Prior to Gauss, Drew developed and patented innovative solutions for the Gastroenterology and ENT fields out of his graduate work at Stanford University, founding both concepts into seed-funded companies. Prior to joining in the medical field, Drew worked for several years in aerospace software development for Belcan Engineering and Pratt & Whitney.   Nathan Myers  Vice President, Sales  Nathan Myers joined Gauss Surgical as the Vice President of Sales in 2017 and has 15 years of experience in consultative and solution selling of disruptive medical technologies. Prior to Gauss, he served as an AVP of Sales at Surgicount Medical (acquired by Stryker), and as Director of Sales at Synaptive Medical. Previously, he served in various sales functions at Stryker and GlaxsoSmithKline. Nathan holds BBA and MBA degrees from the Grand Valley State University.
